At the beginning of my botanical painting journey, I tended to avoid painting leaves. For me back then, painting leaves was very difficult; painting the veins felt like a daunting task. But as time went on, I started to bravely face this challenge. I kept learning to understand the character and techniques of wet-on-wet watercolour painting, as well as using tools like masking fluid, until I became more comfortable with leaf subjects. And now, shiny and textured leaves have become my favorite painting subjects.
