Presenting the refreshing essence of pineapples which is so familiar in Indonesia, through coloured pencil strokes on paper.
Created meticulously through a long process to find the right colour combination from coloured pencils to produce the most realistic image possible. This pineapple is a complex piece of art that requires a lot of time and patience poured into making a drawing. The fruit is very common, but only in 2023 did I dare challenge myself to undertake and complete it.
Riwis Sadati
Interest in visual arts apparently has not faded, even though it has been a long time since focusing on artistic activities since completing a Visual Communication Design (DKV) education at UNS Surakarta and navigating the digital agency world in Jakarta.
After deciding to settle in Yogyakarta, Riwis then began to explore the artistic space within herself and fell in love with botanical art. In 2021, she decided to join the Indonesian Society of Botanical Artists (IDSBA) and delve deeper into botanical art. Painting and drawing have long been a means of calming oneself and a source of happiness, especially when starting to focus on applying watercolour or coloured pencil pigments on paper. The uniqueness of botanical art, which must depict the detailed appearance of plants in the artwork, has become one of the triggers for Riwis to continue honing her artistic skills from various aspects.
While exploring botanical art, she has successfully showcased her work in several exhibitions with IDSBA such as Seruang Karya; Flora of Southeast Asia Exhibition in Singapore; NARAWANDIRA Exhibition at Kraton Yogyakarta, Ragam Flora Indonesia 4 Exhibition, and participated in the Plantae Documentary 2022 in Taiwan.
