This is my first botanical work. In 2022, I had no knowledge of botanical art at all, so the creation of this work was free from all the usual guidelines used in botanical art. There was no scientific research process involved; instead, it was purely driven by admiration for the beauty of the freshly bloomed anthurium leaves, shimmering like velvet. During this year, I focused more on exploring the broader world of illustration, so anthurium was the only botanical artwork I managed to complete in 2022. This work is truly memorable for me. Besides being my first attempt at botanical art, it also has a counterpart, which is an illustration for a children’s book with the same subject. Both represent the freedom of interpretation in the art world, showing that one subject can inspire two vastly different artworks.
