The Red Waves

IDR -

It all began with a fondness for torch ginger as a culinary ingredient, which led me to plant it when the pandemic started. A year later, the eagerly awaited first bloom appeared, followed by more blooms. Since then, I’ve been documenting the growth of this torch ginger plant step by step. From budding flowers to small blooms, until finally, they blossom into fully mature flowers. These flowers are not only beautiful in appearance but also delightful in taste.

Life experiences in various small towns, big cities, and visits to different places have shaped my perspective and love for the archipelago. The richness of culture and appreciation for local knowledge has been the focus of my exploration in recent years, including the richness of Indonesia’s native plants. Armed with a background in architectural studies with expertise in Theory, History, and Architectural Criticism, Linda has become a faculty member in the Architecture Program at Duta Wacana Christian University (UKDW) in Yogyakarta. Currently active in various professional organizations, she is also a member of IDSBA (Indonesian Society of Botanical Artists), which strengthens her love and understanding of the diversity of flora in the homeland.
