That Oak Leaves

IDR 880.000

I’m a fan of fantasy and fiction stories. Like they say, every fantasy story has a background in reality or fact. So, I ventured into reality and searched for a place to start. Then I found it: the tree under which the Wizard Merlin worked his magic—the oak tree. Known as a symbol of wisdom, it was a great subject to begin drawing its leaves and fruit. But, of course, nothing comes easy. Using watercolour, it was challenging for me to capture the details and the colours. The green seemed artificial at first, but after a few layers, it started to resemble leaves. Choosing to focus on the leaves and fruit and leaving out the tree trunk was a good decision. It was a lot of work for just one leaf. All I can say is that patience is key. Just like nature grows patiently, from sprout to wisdom.
