The meaning and symbolism of the protea flower are associated with change and transformation, symbolizing diversity, courage, and uniqueness. It stands out as a very unusual plant, quite different from other flowers, teaching everyone to embrace a beauty that is different and unique. Protea thrives in conditions where other plants may struggle, showcasing resilience and endurance. I personally use the protea flower as a symbol, reminding myself of my journey with Schizoaffective Disorder. Living with this disorder entails hearing voices, seeing things that no one else can see, and experiencing sleepless nights while believing I am fine. Medications become a routine, slowing down my thoughts and speech. My mood swings from happiness to sadness, and the disorder often makes me feel frustrated. This is what Schizoaffective Disorder does to me.
