The Meadow
IDR -
Originating from a friend’s request, the painting of a vibrant wildflower meadow came to life with warm and cheerful colours. This painting depicts a sprawling field of wildflowers in a subtropical region, showcasing various shapes and colours of different flowers. Several popular wildflowers with bright colours were chosen, including poppies, tansies, calendulas, castillejas, and lupines.
The iconic poppy (Papaver rhoeas L.) is characterized by its bright red petals with black centers. Tansy flowers (Tanacetum vulgare L.) are small and clustered, featuring bright yellow hues. Orange calendula flowers (Calendula officinalis L.) have layered petals, boasting captivating bright orange tones. Castilleja flowers (Castilleja sp) are unique with their tube-shaped bright red petals, often dubbed “Indian paintbrush” due to their brush-like appearance. Lupine flowers (Lupinus polyphyllus Lindl.) have petal shapes resembling butterflies in shades of purple and pink.
The artist utilized watercolour on paper, leveraging bright and transparent pigment colours to evoke a warm and cheerful atmosphere. With its substantial size (76 x 56 cm), this painting is envisioned to be a dominant decoration on the owner’s wall, bringing the lively and colourful ambiance of a wildflower meadow into their home.
