Irene Ng is a botanical artist working with watercolour and graphite pencil, residing in Jakarta. Her journey in botanical art began as a hobby in painting, which led her to delve into botanical artistry starting in 2017, joining early communities when IDSBA was newly established.

The necessity to capture detail and realism in botanical art is something Irene relishes in her work, and her precise and delicate painting style has become her hallmark in creating botanical art. Her works have been regularly selected for exhibition in botanical art exhibitions held by IDSBA every year since 2019. Irene has also been entrusted to create numerous botanical pieces for commercial products and scientific illustrations.

In 2021, two of her illustrations were chosen to grace a botanical reference book titled “The Genus Paphiopedilum” authored by Prof Guido J. Braem, a renowned orchid researcher from the University of Maryland, USA. At the Flora of Southeast Asia exhibition held in Singapore in 2022, Irene Ng achieved the Certificate of Artistic Merit for her showcased work in the botanical art exhibition.
