This plant brings back memories of my childhood. Mr. Soma, an agricultural engineer, had a house with an expansive yard filled with various plant species I had never seen before. Playing at his house was an extraordinary experience that remains vivid in my mind to this day. Among the many plants, the passion fruit plant left a lasting impression on me with its beautiful flowers. If he were still here, he would surely be deeply touched… I remember eagerly waiting by the gate as a child, anticipating him to open it, allowing me to explore his garden and share his knowledge about the various plants he cultivated. Now, as I delve into botanical art, I reflect on those moments with gratitude. Thank you, Mr. Soma, for always opening the door for me and encouraging my exploration when I was young. My sincere respect to you, Sir.

Heni Susanti was born in Bandung, Indonesia. She is a Yoga practitioner and a homemaker. Her career began with painting mandalas in 2017, which is a meditative yoga technique, through drawing activities, and she started delving into botanical art since 2019 until now.

She acquired her botanical art technique learning through the Indonesian Society of Botanical Artists (IDSBA). Painting botanicals holds a special allure for her. Engaging in botanical art involves a deep exploration of specimens (plants) as painting subjects. Thus, we can get to know and form a closer bond with the universe.
