Beautiful Yellow Flower from the Tree

IDR 2.000.000

In the year 2023, when almost every tree at the Balikpapan Botanical Gardens was in full bloom and fruiting, I found myself drawn to the Simpur tree, scientifically known as Dillenia excelsa (Jack) Gilg. Its stunning yellow blossoms adorned the tree, with some petals gracefully scattered beneath its canopy. This tree holds significant value as a remedy for diarrhea, as it resides in the medicinal plant section where I work. Often, I find myself explaining its benefits to visitors as we tour the garden. During this time, I seized the opportunity to pluck a few branches with leaves and flowers to capture their essence through photography. I carefully arranged the composition I sought, although I regret not being able to depict every detail. It was my first time working on a piece of such scale, using A3 paper and employing a mix of watercolour and coloured pencils. I faced some challenges in determining the colours due to my partial colour blindness, and my limited expertise in colour mixing. However, I found solace in the serene ambiance of my workplace, surrounded by the tranquil sounds of nature, allowing me to immerse myself fully in the creative process.
