Dried flowers have always caught my attention; their textures and colours are truly unique. A few months ago, the result of drying a ‘Pink Palace’ lily flower was particularly captivating, with gradients of purple, turquoise, light brown, and blue shimmering beautifully. I thought it would be interesting to capture this in a picture, aligning with the concept I wanted to convey. Titled “Decaying,” the colours fading within the dried flower petals symbolize the grieving process: denial, anger, depression, and acceptance. Botanical art is a new venture for me, and I hope to learn a lot and delve into traditional mediums, translating the language of plants into art more fluidly. May this artwork be seen and felt as deeply as I experienced creating it.
