Encountering this beautiful plant began when I was still a child. One evening, my father took me for a walk to the limestone hills south of the village, where I saw colorful flowers blooming amidst the bushes. Intrigued, I asked my father to pick some to adorn our home. Surprisingly, these flowers could last a long time just by dipping their cut stems into a vase filled with water, and even some buds could bloom beautifully.
This encounter with the beautiful plant became a memorable memory for me. During rainy seasons, as I journeyed through teak forests and saw these flowers flourishing, my memories were drawn back to the moment years ago with my father when I first discovered this plant. As a nostalgic gesture towards that memory, I decided to paint Gloriosa superba L. using watercolour on paper.
