Cattleya

IDR -

As someone who has never cared for orchids before, I am not very familiar with the various types of orchid plants. I only know orchids that are commonly found in the market. So when I saw the flower of this cattleya orchid, I felt amazed and truly fascinated. I felt that the colour of this orchid flower is very vibrant and the combination of its colours is very beautiful. The relatively large size of the flower also enhances its beauty.

Although I have never seen this orchid specimen directly, my interest in this orchid made me want to depict its beauty in an artwork. So I decided to ask for permission from its owner, who is a fellow member of the Indonesian Society of Botanical Artists (IDSBA), to draw it. This artwork then became the highlight of the open studio session at the Ragam Flora Indonesia exhibition 4 held last year at the NuArt Gallery, Bandung.
